What you will find on a product page

Longevity and Food Integrity

Longevity looks at nutrition and ingredient signals for how a product may fit longer-term eating patterns — calories, macros, fiber, additives, and related cues.

Food Integrity focuses on the ingredient list: transparency, processing, additives, and formulation concern signals.

The two scores answer different questions. A food can score well on nutrition and still show formulation tradeoffs on the ingredient list, or the reverse. Product pages present both so you can weigh what matters for you.

Infographic titled Two scores. Two different questions. Left: Food Integrity Score asks What is it made of? and focuses on ingredient quality and processing. Right: Longevity Score asks How does it fit my diet? and focuses on nutrient density and dietary needs. Footer: Together, these scores provide a clearer picture than either could alone.
Food Integrity asks what a product is made of; Longevity asks how it fits longer-term eating patterns. Product pages publish both.
Comparison table titled Defining the boundaries of analysis. Food Integrity focuses on the ingredient list and formulation, evaluating additives, processing, and watchlist items. Longevity focuses on labeled nutrition per serving, evaluating macros, micros, fiber, and sodium. Neither evaluates medical safety, allergen guarantees, price, taste, or environmental impact.
Scope of each scorecard: Food Integrity is ingredient- and formulation-focused; Longevity is nutrition- and pattern-focused. Neither replaces medical, allergy, or package-label decisions.

Quadrant chart titled Why a single metric fails the reality test. Axes are Longevity (low to high) and Food Integrity (low to high). Illustrative examples show products that can rank high on one axis and lower on the other, so dual scores tell a fuller story than one number alone.

Data sources

Product pages draw on labeled nutrition and ingredient information from public label databases when available — including USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts — and from KarbCoach label submissions when a package was captured that way. Each product page lists the sources used for that item.

Who this is for

Food Quality Guide is for shoppers, researchers, and anyone who wants a consistent, readable view of packaged-food nutrition and ingredients. Pages are educational product information — not personalized medical advice, not an allergy decision tool, and not a substitute for the package label in your hand.

Label accuracy and safety

Ingredient lists, nutrition values, and related details shown here and in the KarbCoach mobile app can vary by region, package size, formulation, manufacturing run, or packaging. The package you have is the authority for ingredients, nutrition facts, allergens, and other label information.

Food Quality Guide and the KarbCoach mobile app are for education and general product understanding. They are not medical advice and are not for allergy, food-safety, or other health decisions. Scores and summaries are interpretive analyses — always use the current package label for decisions that require it.
